A Bridgestone confirmou que está respondendo a um incidente cibernético que afetou várias de suas fábricas na América do Norte.

O incidente afetou as duas fábricas do fabricante de pneus no condado de Aiken, Carolina do Sul, a estação de TV local WRDW reportado em 1º de setembro. Entende-se que os sites permaneceram operacionais.

No entanto, os funcionários cujos empregos foram afetados receberam as opções de permanecer no trabalho e fazer manutenção preventiva e receber um dia inteiro de pagamento ou ir para casa sem remuneração.

Na cidade de Joliette, na província canadense de Quebec, uma instalação da Bridgestone que emprega 1400 pessoas interrompeu as operações desde 31 de agosto, de acordo com vários meios de comunicação locais.

Depois de serem instruídos a ficar em casa e temendo o risco de não serem pagos, os funcionários da fábrica de Joliette receberão CAD$ 200 por dia (US$ 145), Le Journal de Montreal relatado em 4 de setembro.

De acordo com MonJoliette, um site de notícias local, o prefeito da cidade afirmou que a Bridgestone lhe garantiu que “nenhuma informação, seja relacionada a funcionários ou clientes, foi comprometida”.

Bridgestone Americas confirmada para Segurança da informação que estava respondendo ao incidente cibernético, mas especificou o escopo do ataque ou o status de qualquer uma de suas instalações.

“Continuamos investigando um incidente cibernético limitado que afeta algumas de nossas instalações de fabricação. Nossa equipe respondeu rapidamente para conter o problema de acordo com nossos protocolos estabelecidos”, disse um porta-voz da Bridgestone Segurança da informação.

“Embora nossa análise forense esteja em andamento, continuamos confiantes de que fomos capazes de conter esse incidente cibernético limitado antecipadamente. Não acreditamos que nenhum dado ou interface do cliente tenha sido comprometido”, acrescentaram.
