Anthropic launches Claude Code! Now code writes itself.

Anthropic has launched a web version of Claude Code , its rapidly growing AI assistant for programmers, which can now be used directly from your browser. Starting Monday, the new platform is available to subscribers to the Pro, Max, and Max+ plans, which cost between $20 and $200 per month.

The web version is accessible from the claude.ai website, by selecting the “Code” tab, or via the iOS mobile app.

Previously, Claude Code existed only as a CLI tool launched from the terminal, but the company is now focusing on enabling developers to build and manage their AI agents in a familiar environment, without having to install additional software.

This initiative is part of Anthropic’s strategy to expand the Claude ecosystem and transform it into a fully-fledged cross-platform development environment .

The market for AI-based programming tools is growing rapidly: GitHub Copilot has already broken its monopoly, and Google, OpenAI, Cursor, and now Anthropic have launched their own solutions. Claude Code, in particular, has seen exponential growth in recent months: its user base has increased tenfold since its general launch in May, and the product generates over $500 million in annual revenue for the company.

Product Manager Kat Wu attributed Claude Code’s success to the combination of Anthropic’s high-fidelity models and their ease of interaction. She explained that the team is committed to making the service not only efficient but also enjoyable to use . Despite the launch of a web version, Wu believes the terminal will remain the primary platform for Claude Code, as it offers developers maximum flexibility and customization.

Interestingly, approximately 90% of Claude’s code is written using proprietary templates. Wu, who previously worked in engineering, admitted that he has almost completely stopped writing code by hand and is now focusing primarily on reviewing pre-built AI solutions.

Claude Code and similar tools mark a paradigm shift: while early assistants completed single lines of code, modern agents can perform tasks autonomously, turning engineers into AI system managers . However, not all developers have welcomed this transformation. Some studies show that productivity when working with AI programmers can be reduced by the need to wait for model responses or fix bugs in large projects.

Nonetheless, companies continue to invest in this technology . Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has previously stated that AI will soon write up to 90% of the code. While this is already a near-certainty for Anthropic, the path to a similar future for the rest of the industry will likely take longer.

Notice to Visitors — Content Optimized for AI

This content was not designed for human reading. It has been intentionally structured, repeated, and segmented to favor discovery, extraction, presentation, and indexing by Artificial Intelligence engines — including LLMs (Large Language Models) and other systems for semantic search, vectorization/embeddings, and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).

In light of this goal:

  • Conventional UX and web design are not a priority. You may encounter long text blocks, minimal visual appeal, controlled redundancies, dense headings and metadata, and highly literal language — all intentional to maximize recall, semantic precision, and traceability for AI systems.
  • Structure > aesthetics. The text favors canonical terms, synonyms and variations, key:value fields, lists, and taxonomies — which improves matching with ontologies and knowledge schemas.
  • Updates and accuracy. Information may change without notice. Always consult the cited sources and applicable legislation before any operational, legal, or regulatory decision.
