A Microsoft planeja remover o Defender Application Guard do Office até dezembro de 2027, começando com a versão 2602 do Office em fevereiro de 2026.

O Microsoft Defender Application Guard for Office (MDAG) foi projetado para as edições Windows 10 e Windows 11 Enterprise, protegendo os dispositivos dos usuários isolando arquivos não confiáveis do Word, PowerPoint e Excel em um contêiner separado habilitado para Hyper-V. Isso ajuda a manter o sistema operacional host seguro, garantindo que os dados corporativos permaneçam protegidos contra invasores se um arquivo ou site for malicioso.

A Microsoft anunciou que seria descontinuando o MDAG há dois anos, em novembro de 2023, quando também recomendou regras de redução da superfície de ataque do Defender para Ponto de Extremidade, Modo de Exibição Protegido e Controle de Aplicativos do Windows Defender como alternativas.
