A huge gathering eyed on the stage at “InfoSecCon-2025” (4th Edition) at Dhaka while different experts were talking about the cyber security in global perspective. An initiative by cyber security-based news outlet infosecbulletin, more than 150 professionals, academician, researchers, students, bankers from across the nation joined the event.
The conference includes key notes, panel discussions, quiz and special ambiens creation on the event area.
The very first panel titled “Data Center prospects in Bangladesh” Hasibur Rashid, CEO, InterCloud ltd, M. Manjur Mahmud, President, DataSoft Systems and Kh. Golam Sarwar, SAVP & Head of IT Security & Governance Division, The Premier Bank PLC highlighted the strong prospects for data centers due to its rapidly growing digital economy, increased internet penetration, and supportive government policies. Strategic geographic location and rising demand for cloud services further enhance its potential as a regional data hub. The insightful session was moderated by Abir Mazumder, Managing Director, AM Square.
On the keynote speech, S. M. Tofayel Ahmad, Additional Director (ICT), Bangladesh Bank said, Central bank’ various steps are to help to safeguard countries banking sector. It issues policies how to the banks handle the data.
While moderating Muhibbul Muktadir Tanim, General Secretary, BDSAF in the pane titled “Zero Trust + AI: Privacy in the Age of Generative/Agentic AI” both panelist named Sumon Ahmed Sabir, EC Member, APNIC and Md. Muiz Tasnim Taqui, Group Chief Operating Officer, Agile Minds solutions Ltd said, Zero Trust combined with AI ensures continuous verification of every user and action, making it essential in the era of generative and agentic AI to safeguard data privacy and prevent misuse of autonomous systems.
The panel titled “The Evolving Role of CISO – Balancing Risk and Innovation in the Digital Age” was participated by Md. Mahbubul Alam (Rafel), Head of Information Security Division, Prime Bank PLC, Saiful Islam, FVP & CISO, Dhaka Bank PLC, Md. Sanowar Hossain, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Mutual Trust Bank PLC. By the moderation of Shahriar Bin Atique, Chairman & CEO, Prime Net Limited the panelists said, the role of the CISO is evolving from a purely defensive position to a strategic enabler of digital innovation. Modern CISOs must balance security risks with business agility, ensuring protection without stifling growth. In the digital age, they act as both guardians of data and catalysts for secure technological transformation.
In the panel titled “Secure Cloud Adoption in Government & Private Sector in Bangladesh” stated the cloud adoption scenario in Bangladesh in government and private sector while addressing challenges.
They said, secure cloud adoption is reshaping digital transformation across Bangladesh’s government and private sectors by enabling scalability, efficiency, and collaboration, while demanding strong data governance, compliance frameworks, and robust security standards to build trust and unlock the full potential of cloud-driven innovation. Abul Kalam Azad, Head of Information Security, Eastern Bank PLC moderated the session.
Md Saimum Reza Talukder, Prosecutor at the International Crimes Tribunal and Assistant Attorney General of Bangladesh discussed the country’s evolving legal response to cybercrime. His session highlighted the strengths and limitations of existing cyber laws and enforcement mechanisms. He also explored key legal and institutional challenges in combating emerging digital threats. The discussion aims to identify practical pathways to strengthen Bangladesh’s cyber justice framework.
As special guest Dr. Imadur Rahman, Managing Director, Bangladesh satellite company limited (BSCL) said, there is no alternative to the digital economy for the future economic development of Bangladesh. And one of the main pillars of the digital economy is cybersecurity.
If consumers do not feel safe to transact in the digital economy, then the digital economy will not fly. The interim government has passed several new ordinances, which are very important for our future. Such as: Information Security Act, Cyber Security Act, Telecom Regulatory Act, etc. Some more policy work needs to be done with these laws, which will provide cyber security to Bangladesh in the future.
He emphasized that we need to increase industry-academia collaboration. So that academia can produce up-to-date graduates, the initiative must be taken from academia, as well as industry must invest in academia. There is no alternative to collaboration here.
As guest of honor JICA expert SHOJI Akihiro shared the future workaround for Bangladesh in cyber security arena.
As chief guest Shish Hyder Chowdhury, NDC, Secretary, ICT Division said, ICT Division has prioritized strengthening national cyber defense and capacity building, while advocating for collaboration between government, industry, and academia to combat evolving cyber threats. His vision for a secure digital Bangladesh inspires all of us to embrace cybersecurity as the foundation of progress.
