Uma grande empresa de jogos de azar com sede em Las Vegas divulgou um incidente de segurança cibernética, que violou os dados pessoais de funcionários e outros indivíduos.

A Boyd Gaming Corporation relatou o incidente em um Arquivamento 8-K à Comissão de Valores Mobiliários dos EUA (SEC) em 23 de setembro.

A empresa, que possui 29 cassinos e hotéis em vários locais, incluindo Nevada, Mississippi, Illinois, Indiana e Louisiana, disse que um terceiro não autorizado acessou seu sistema interno de TI.

“A empresa determinou que o terceiro não autorizado removeu certos dados dos sistemas de TI da empresa, incluindo informações sobre funcionários e um número limitado de outros indivíduos. A empresa está notificando os indivíduos afetados e notificou ou notificará seus vários reguladores e outras agências governamentais, conforme necessário”, escreveu Boyd no documento.

Nenhuma informação foi fornecida sobre a natureza dos dados roubados ou o número de indivíduos afetados. Boyd Emprega 16.129 pessoas, no final de 2024.

O incidente não afetou as operações comerciais da empresa, de acordo com o processo.

A empresa disse que tomou medidas para remediar o incidente com a ajuda dos principais especialistas em segurança cibernética e em cooperação com as autoridades federais de aplicação da lei. Não divulgou a data em que o incidente ocorreu.

Acrescentou que não acredita que o incidente terá um efeito adverso material na condição financeira de Boyd ou nos resultados das operações.

“A empresa mantém uma apólice de seguro de segurança cibernética abrangente, que esperamos cobrir os custos associados à resposta a incidentes e investigações forenses, bem como interrupções de negócios, ações legais e multas regulatórias, se houver, sujeitas a limites de apólice e franquias”, acrescentou Boyd.

Em 2023, dois grandes operadores de cassinos e hotéis de Las Vegas, MGM Resorts Internacional e Entretenimento César, foram abalados por ataques cibernéticos com apenas alguns dias de intervalo.

Os incidentes de ransomware, que estavam ligados ao Grupo de aranhas dispersas, resultou em custos significativos e interrupção operacional para as empresas afetadas.
